Engineer's life is damn scuk here. The truth is you will have high pay in the entry level compared to management graduate, then you parents proud with it. After few years, they will start asking, "Why our boy boy until now still at same salary level ar? He is not perform meh?"
Salary review once a year, with max RM200 increase. deduct income tax, EPF, end up to be max. RM150. Bear in mind, this is the review money for "excellent" engineer.
I do not say every company is like this, but most of the semicon factory is almost the same. Also, above statement is not valid to those MD's blue eye boy. They will definitely climb as fast as helicopter.
Money is important, but self accomplishment is much much important in the sense that, money could not buy it.
My company prefer to hire "unexperienced" manager, somemore different field could be also recruited. And these manager will support by a group of "experienced" engineers. Why? Why not you promote "experienced" engineer in house, and hire a new engineer to cover his/her function? To me, this step will motivated the downline, and the one got promoted also happy to sacrify more to company, because his/her hardworkship being recognized.
Hire a "unexperienced" manager is very demotivated to the team, where everyone will understand, how experience you are, how hardworkship you sacrified, is all wasted. someone there from others company will be hired and give you orders without any knowledge. damn it.

I joined 2 companies in 8 months, I saw there is totally different with us, they promote the capable downline, hire a new engineer, which i think it is a the right way.
com'on lar.. if you are junior engineer, you have a senior on top of you, when your senior's boss resigned, someone "unexperienced" guy being hired to be your senior boss and your senior still at the same level, what will you think?

I have a 5 years+ experience with same field, the pioneer of the field, end-up someone told me,
" I can't do much", " Not the right time", - company policy, What I can say? Never fight never knew. Somemore geram is, there is just a case, someone just promoted from technician to assistant engineer in others group. I can't tolerant with this. You said no promotion to all the staff, no review, end-up someone is promoted. Why not me? I not perform, but you said "no".
" You're still young", - How young is me? 29yrs old, our MD blue eye boy currently a manager with having a room for himself, who is just 27yrs old. When I was in the same field, he is still main masak-masak.
" I have no choice", - hire "non-capable" managers is not your choice, is my decision. Even a small child, know who is the good teacher, you so old already, you can't differentiate good or bad employee, then how you capable to be in the current position?
" If you not paying others higher salary/level, will they move to this new position?" - why not pay me? I got experience ler... how about you give me half increment they got? I was already satisfied with it. What others have, but I don't have. Are they more capable in asking silly question in the meeting?

finally they keeping me at same level, a "small potato" level.
