Congkak

I watched "Congkak" at a brand new cinema in melaka, GSC Dataran Pahlawan last weekend.

I choose this movie solely because of it is "FOC" tickets. The promotions left only another 2 more days, so, you may go and grap your free tickets fast. Of course, I am not asking you to watch Congkak, you may defintely go for other movies, which I recommended "The water horse:..."

Well, Congkak was not so bad, although I am one of those 30ppl sitting in a 400pax cinema room, with also one of the 70% chinese who watched this movie. But supprisely, I noticed there is a young lady brought her mom (in 50-60 yrs old range) to watch this movie. wow.. I really can't belive that, and very gratefully she walked out the cinema safely after the movie. Grandma, you very geng chao (salute!!), far better that a lot of youngsters outside, who never watched ghost movie before.

The movie was begin with a happy family of four, having their vacation at a kampung bungalow in the middle of jungle, which they has already bought for several years.

The congkak sound at night, the laughing/crying sound from the strange "opah"...make the story scary. So, maybe after this movie, you would set a family rule, "PLAYING CONGKAK AT NIGHT IS HIGHLY PROHIBITED"

But, I think the sound effect was too much and too loud, not like korean/japanese horror movie, the silence the scary...caused you never expected when the ghost will be pop-out.

Of course, there is still many unlogical scene in the movie. For example, a unexpected clean house even it had been left empty for several years; a "?" ending try to hint us they went to a wrong kampung with wrong house, but how come they can entered the so-called haunted house with wrong key?

Rate: 5/10 (not bad oredi for local haunted movie)
